Resetting passwords for other users

Information: A user's password cannot be recovered, but a new password can be set either by a user assigned to the group IAM User (global) or by themselves.

> Resetting password by yourself

To reset a user’s password, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the BIS Portal.

  2. Open the app User Management Service.

  3. Open the menu item Users > Accounts.

  4. Select the user whose password you want to reset.

  5. Click Edit.

The screen Account Details with the tab Access Data opens.
  6. In the section Login > Additional Data, click Reset Password.

  7. Select one of the two options displayed.

    • To have a new temporary password be sent directly and only to the user via email, select Send to User via Email.
    • To have a new temporary password displayed only to you in the current screen, select Display Here.
  8. Click Save.

Depending on your selection, a password reset email was sent to the user or a new temporary password is displayed to you in the new field New Password. The password status is set to expired for both options.

Note: After the user assigned to the group IAM User (global) reset the password for another user, the reset process is not complete. This user then needs to change the temporary password. Once the user has successfully changed their password, the password status returns to active.
