Requesting a license

Note: In the BIS License Manager, only licenses for the BIS 6.7 can be requested, not for older versions.

You can request a new license by registering your system on which the BIS, the BIC Mapping Designer or the BIS Developer Studio is to be installed in the BIS License Manager. You need the delivery note for the registration.

Note: If you cannot see the BIS License Manager on the start screen, an administrator must allow you to access the BIS License Manager.

    There are two ways of registering new systems:

  • without a template

  • using a template (an existing license request)

Requesting a license without a template

  1. Log in to the SEEBURGER Customer Portal.

  2. Open the app BIS License Manager.

    Information: When you open the app for the first time, you need to enter your customer number and your customer key to register in the BIS License Manager. The customer number and the customer key can be found on the delivery note.
  3. In the tab Active, click Request License > New.

  4. Select a Product.

    Information: Articles for the Portal are included in the BIS product.
  5. Select the Base Delivery Note Number of your base delivery note.

    • Set a check mark at the field Trial License, if you want to request a Trial type license for this delivery note.
    Note: If you need a regular license for this delivery note in addition to the trial license, you must request the regular license separately.
  6. Enter a System-ID.

    Information: The system ID is not predefined, you can choose it yourself. Please note that the system ID must be unique, i.e. only one system ID may be assigned for each system. It is not allowed to have the same system ID for 2 systems. Even if you use a test system and a production system, these systems each need their own system ID. The system ID is also required when installing BIS 6.7.
  7. Fill in all other mandatory fields in the section System Details or adjust the entries as needed.

  8. In the field Type, select the type of your system.

  9. Enter a Hostname.

    Note: You must not use IP addresses as hostnames. You can enter up to 4 hostnames. The hostname is also required when installing the BIS 6.7.
  10. In the field Platform, select the appropriate platform for your system.

  11. Click Next.

Note: You will be shown the articles for your base delivery note. You can enter another delivery note number if you want to add additional articles.

  1. Select another Delivery Note Number if needed.

    • Click Add Articles From Delivery Note Number.
  2. Use the arrow keys or double-click to select the articles for your system. You will also find the respective articles on the delivery note.

  3. Click Finish.

Your license will be transferred to the BIS License Manager after approval by the SEEBURGER license department. Now it can be downloaded.You will be informed via email and system notification about status changes of your license request. You can then view the respective status in the overview of license requests in the BIS License Manager.

Note: License requests with the status Rejected, Expired or Deleted are displayed in the tab Inactive.

Requesting a license using a template

To use the data of an already requested license as a template, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the SEEBURGER Customer Portal.

  2. Open the app BIS License Manager.

    Information: When you open the app for the first time, you need to enter your customer number and your customer key to register in the BIS License Manager. The customer number and the customer key can be found on the delivery note.
  3. In the tab Active, click Request License > From existing license request.

  4. Select the Reference License to be used as a template.

    Note: All previous license requests are offered for selection, including license requests from the tab Inactive. You can use the search and filter to find a specific license request.
  5. Click Next.

  6. Check the System-ID.

    Note: Please make sure that you enter a new system ID for a new system. The system ID is not predefined, you can choose it yourself. The system ID must be unique, i.e. only one system ID may be assigned for each system.
  7. Check all other fields in the section System Details or adjust the entries as needed.

    Note: You must not use IP addresses as hostnames. You can enter up to 4 hostnames. The hostname is also required when installing the BIS 6.7.
  8. Click Next.

  9. Check the entries in the form and adjust them if necessary.

    Note: You can add additional articles by selecting another delivery note number. By clicking Add Articles From Delivery Note Number, you can display corresponding articles.
  10. Click Finish.

Your license will be transferred to the BIS License Manager after approval by the SEEBURGER license department. Now it can be downloaded.You will be informed via email and system notification about status changes of your license request. You can then view the respective status in the overview of license requests in the BIS License Manager.
