Specifying the packaging of items

Note: To specify the packaging of your items, item data and packaging data must already be stored in your master data. The item data is created automatically when orders are received, the packaging data is entered manually.

> Storing packaging data

Note: If you predominantly have to enter changing packaging data, it is not advisable to store the packaging data and specify the packaging of the items. In this case, it is best to fill in the relevant fields manually directly in the delivery note.

To specify the packaging of your items, follow these steps:

  1. Open the app Supplier Portal.

  2. Click Master Data > Materials.

  3. Double-click the entry you want to edit.

  4. In Packaging - Package, select from Container Number the package material which is used for the selected item.

  5. At Max. Capacity Per Package, define the maximum number of items that fit into the specified packaging material.

  6. If necessary, clear Create Individual Packages.

Note: The ordered items are listed in delivery notes. If defined in the master data, the number of packages (e.g. boxes) required to transport the ordered quantity is suggested automatically for each item. You can define (1) whether one table row should be displayed for each required package (select Create Individual Packages) or (2) whether all required packages should be summarized in one table row (clear Create Individual Packages).
  7. If a load carrier is used, select the load carrier in the section Packaging - Load Carrier under Container Number.

  8. At Max. Packages Per Load Carrier, define the maximum number of items that fit on the specified load carrier.

  9. If necessary, select Calculate Only Full Load.

Note: If defined in the master data, in delivery notes, the amount of packages (such as boxes) and load carriers (such as pallets) is suggested automatically for each item. You can define (1) whether only the number of full load carriers is suggested and the remaining packages are processed manually by you (select Calculate Only Full Load). Or (2) whether the entire number of load carriers is suggested, including "incomplete" load carriers that are not completely full (clear Calculate Only Full Load).
  10. If auxiliary material is used, select from Packaging - Auxiliary (for Transport) one or more auxiliary materials that you use for transportation.

  11. At Quantity, define how many items of each auxiliary material are used for transportation.

  12. Click Save.
