Business Cards

The Business Card is a public profile containing information about companies which are members of the Peppol network. This information can be helpful for sending and receiving documents via Peppol.

The following data can be entered when creating the Business Card in the app PEPPOL:

  • Registration Date: This is the date on which your Business Card data is published. From this day, you are ready to receive documents via the selected Peppol ID. The registration date is usually the same day on which you created and published your Business Card.

If you have been using the app PEPPOL for a while, you might receive documents even without a published Business Card. For you, the registration date is the day from which you were able to reveive documents.

  • Additional Information: For additional information of your company, that makes it easier for other Peppol participants to find you in the Peppol Directory.

  • Geographical Information: For your postal address (street, house number, postal code, city). If your company has multiple subsidiaries, you can specify more than one address.

  • Country Code: Code of the country where your company, to which the Peppol ID belongs, is located in.

This way, a company with headquarters in different countries can have several Peppol IDs. A Business Card should be maintained for each Peppol ID as soon as documents are also going to be received via the Peppol network.

  • Business Entity Names: For your company name. If your company has multiple names, you can add more than one name.

  • Additional Identifiers: Additional identifiers can be specified if you have other known identifiers and these differ from the identifier used in the Peppol ID. For example, other internationally known IDs such as a DUNS can be specified here.

  • Contacts: To enter different contacts. You can use the field "Type" to indicate the responsibility or the department of each contact.

  • Company Websites: To enter the link to your company website.

In the app PEPPOL you can set up and maintain your Business Card. It can also be published in the Peppol Directory – a public central directory – via the app.

By publishing the Business Card in the Peppol Directory, business partners can find the Peppol ID used to reach a potential recipient of documents. In addition, the Peppol Directory also contains information on their receiving capacities, for example which documents the recipient can process. The more precise the company information is maintained in one's business card, the easier the company can be found in the Peppol Directory.

Note: It is discussed in the Peppol network, if an entry in the Peppol Directory should be mandatory. However, with a few exceptions such as Norway, there is currently no obligation to maintain and publish the Business Card.

If you not only send data/documents via the Peppol network but also receive them, the entry can certainly be useful. Read more about the advantages on our SEEBURGER blog.

Note for companies based in Germany

KoSIT as the German Peppol authority has defined extended mandatory requirements for the information in the Peppol Directory. We therefore recommend that you enter your data in accordance with the KoSIT definition.
