The SML is a central service managed by Peppol. Each Service Metadata Publisher (SMP), which contains the recipient information such as the Peppol ID, and supported document profiles and processes, is registered in the SML. To identify a recipient and their access point, the SML is used to search for the corresponding SMP when transferring a message.
