Setup of MPLS

In order to use Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), your provider (e.g. Telekom) needs to physically deliver the MPLS router to the SEEBURGER data center where it needs to be installed. A second router needs to be installed in your data center by the provider. The connection needed for the exchange of messages is built between your backend system and the MPLS endpoint at SEEBURGER. The details are coordinated on a customer-specific basis.

    MPLS prerequisites at SEEBURGER side:

  • SEEBURGER provides the necessary rack space in the data center for a fee.

  • The connection is only possible in Karlsruhe (Germany).

  • A second connection to the secondary data center (disaster recovery) is an option. The connection between the two data centers can be provided by you or booked with SEEBURGER.

  • Early coordination with SEEBURGER on the planned concept is recommended.

  • Only Network Information Center (NIC) assigned IP addresses will be accepted.

    SEEBURGER cannot accept the following IP ranges defined in:

    • (RFC 1918) 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16

    • (RFC 6598) 100.64.0.0/10

    • (RFC 3927) 169.254.0.0/16

    • (RFC 5735)

    • (RFC 5736) 192.0.0.0/24

    • (RFC 5737) 192.0.2.0/24, 198.51.100.0/24, 203.0.113.0/24

    • (RFC 3068) 192.88.99.0/24

    • (RFC 2544) 198.18.0.0/15

    • (RFC 3171) 224.0.0.0/4

    • (RFC 1112) 240.0.0.0/4

    • (RFC 1700) 255.255.255.255/32

    MPLS prerequisites at your side:

  • Based on the mutually agreed load profile, you are responsible for the necessary bandwidth for the MPLS network.

  • You are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the MPLS router(s).
