Exchanging data for the VPN tunnel creation

Exchanging data for the VPN tunnel creation

In order to set up a VPN connection, you will receive an email from the SEEBURGER Cloud team. This email contains an excel datasheet in which you need to fill your individual data. The SEEBURGER data that you need to configure your VPN is already pre-filled.

Note: Please fill in the yellow marked fields. If you do not agree with one or more settings, correct and flag them.

To exchange data for the VPN tunnel, follow these steps:

Tab Prerequisite

  1. Open the datasheet.

  2. Read the important information carefully.

Tab Details

  1. In the tab Details, enter the following information:

    • Contact for future technical purposes
    • Model of your VPN device
    • IP address of your VPN device (the VPN gateway)
Note: You also need to agree on a pre-shared key with SEEBURGER. We recommend to send the key via phone, SMS or secure file transfer.
  2. Click the link to the IKE settings that you prefer.

Information: We recommend Internet Key Exchange v2 (IKEv2) because it is faster and more secure.

Tab IKEv1/IKEv2

  1. In the tab IKE1/IKEv2, select the following security settings available in your VPN device for IKE from the menu:

    • Integrity Algorithm
    • Encryption Algorithm
    • Pseudo Random Function
Note: This setting is only available in IKEv2.
    • Diffie-Hellmann Group
  2. In the tab IKEv1/IKEv2, select the following security settings available in your VPN device for IPsec Phase2 from the menu:

    • Integrity Algorithm
    • Encryption Algorithm
    • Perfect Forward Secrecy
  3. In the tab IKEv1/IKEv2, enter the Cryptomap Entries for all networks and hosts behind your VPN device.

Tab Firewall Policy

In this tab, you can assign the IP addresses entered in the Cryptomap Entries to respective ports. This makes your VPN connection more secure and is mandatory.

  1. In the first column, enter the source IP address.

  2. In the second column, enter the destination IP address.

  3. In the third column, enter the port to be used.

  4. Send the excel datasheet back to SEEBURGER.

SEEBURGER will set up the VPN connection. The next step is to test if the SEEBURGERBIS is able to connect to your backend system. This is done by sending a document, for example an IDOC, to your ERP system.
